Vice President of Greek Parliament Receives Austrian Ambassador

Vice President of the Hellenic Parliament and President of the European Affairs Committee, Mrs. Rodoula Zisi, held a meeting with the Austrian Ambassador to Greece, Mrs. Melitta Schubert.
Welcoming the Austrian official, Mrs. Zisi congratulated her on taking office as the new Ambassador of Austria to Athens and wished her all the best with her work. Mrs. Zisi also referred to the long historic friendship between the two countries and called for the strengthening of economic, investment and tourist ties.
Mrs. Zisi noted the constructive stance of Austria in the issue of supporting Greece to successfully complete its controlled debt restructuring through the new debt swap agreement. The Greek official highlighted the common beliefs of the two countries in issues concerning the expansion of the EU in the West Balkan countries, the development of a reliable economic governance of the EU, and the need to shift more emphasis to social justice and growth.
On her part, Mrs. Schubert thanked the Greek Vice President for her warm welcome and informed her about the basic priorities of the Austrian European agenda emphasizing the common creation of a new European framework that will master the economic crisis of the Euro Zone.
Moreover, Mrs. Schubert characterized the PSI agreement as a successful step for Greece in its efforts of exiting the crisis, and agreed with the Greek Vice President on the necessity of promoting solidarity amidst the people of the Union.
In addition, the two women discussed issues concerning the cooperation between their two offices, especially relating to cultural interaction initiatives between Austria and Greece.
