The Cypriot Federation of America Donates Books to the Queens Public Library

The users of the Queens Public Library will have the opportunity to “travel” back in the eleven thousands years of history and civilization of Cyprus through the pages of one of the 60 copies of the book «Cyprus: Crossroads of Civilizations», that have been added to the Library’s collection after a valuable donation of the Cypriot Federation of America.

According to the website greeknewsonline.com, the copies of the book were donated to the Queens Public Library during a special ceremony in Steinway of Astoria. The book was published in 2010, on the occasion of the fifty-year anniversary of the Cypriot Federation, and accompanied the homonymous exhibition held in Washington.

The donation – worth more than 3,000 dollars – was happily accepted by the Library, as well as the students who attended the ceremony and were excited about the content of the book.

Thomas Galante, Director of the Library, thanked the Cypriot Federation for its generous donation, and called others to follow its remarkable example. He also pointed out that the books would be distributed to every branch of the Queens Public Library.

The President of the Cypriot Federation of America, Panikos Papanikolaoy, stressed that there is going to be a new donation during the next few days. He also announced that the Federation will offer free tickets to the children for the concert of the pianist Basilis Varvaresos, planed for the 19th of March in Carnegie Hall.
