French Park to Beautify Thessaloniki in March

The Municipality of Thessaloniki has decided to beautify the town with parks from all around the world. The beginning of this new ambitious project will be in March, with the first park, the “Park of France”, to be located across the new mayoral building.
According to the Vice Mayor of Environment, Life Quality and Free Spaces of Thessaloniki, Mr. Zervas, the funds for this particular park had been granted by the French Consul General to Thessaloniki, Christian Timonier. The Consul’s proposal was followed by a relevant study project and the delivery of the necessary plants, while the Municipality will only provide the necessary manpower.
In the immediate future, the Municipality is also aiming at implementing the “Bologna Park” project. The Italian city has accepted already to buy the required vegetation and the Municipality of Thessaloniki is now looking for the right place to host the new park.
“We addressed the twin cities of Thessaloniki and asked for their contributinons as concerns the green sustainable development of Thessaloniki. We aim at renovating the parks of our town without putting a strain on the municipality’s budget” added Mr. Zervas.
