Activated Explosive Device Found in Athens Metro

Τhe Anti-Terrorist Unit of the Greek Police is extremely concerned over the explosive device found on Saturday evening in an Athens subway railcar, in the station of Aegaleo.
According to police information, the device was activated  but it was ineptly connected so that it did not go off. Βomb squads are still working on the self-made bomb to determine the disconnection problem.
There was no warning call for the bomb and the device was randomly discovered by the railcar driver, while making the usual check of the wagons before starting his shift.
The police are now investigating the visual material provided by Metro cameras in order to get any information on who might have left the explosive package of 1.5 liters of inflammable material under the railcar’s seat.
At the same time, forensic labs are scanning the device for any fingerprints, DNA traces or other clues that could lead them to the perpetrators.
No terrorist group has been linked to the incident so far.
Greek Police have called on all citizens who may have any kind of information to share on the explosive device to call the Anti-Terrorist Unit on lines 170, 1014 and 1964.
