Greek Police Investigations of Olympia Museum Theft Prove Fruitless So Far

Investigations into the armed robbery case that stripped off 66 items from the Ancient Olympia Museum on February 17 have proved fruitless so far, despite the efforts of the Greek Police to track down the robbers or any possible trace that could lead to them.
The site has unveiled no material that would allow the criminal investigators and forensic teams to make any guesses on where to search next, while each day that passes only helps the robbers get further from arrest.
According to ProtoThema information, the Police are now working on three different directions:
1. the identification of the (most probably stolen) vehicle and the escape route
2. monitoring and evaluating all clues given by citizens on the 2 phone lines provided to the public by the Police.
3. employment of a special software tool that will analyze telephone calls made from 7 am last Friday until 8 on the same day.
Furthermore, the Police are going through old similar robbery cases in order to find any common features between the offenses.
According to an official of the Ministry of Citizen Protection, it is imminent to arrest the robbers of Ancient Olympia right away, before other antiquities smugglers and robbers feel ruthless enough to start attacking other museums or archaeological sites.
