Patriarch Bartholomew Hopes Theological School of Halki Will Be Reopened

Patriarch Bartholomew strongly hopes the theological school of Halki, of the Orthodox Church, and that the academy, which the Turkish government closed in 1971, will be re-opened.

This was the statement of the Patriarch during the memorial in honor of the late Constantinople Patriarch Fotius, who founded the monastery of Agia Triada (Holy Trinity) of Halki.

Moreover, on the same day the establishment of Elpidoforos Lambrinidis, Metropolitan of Bursa took place, as prior of the monastery of Agia Triada (Holy Trinity). He is due to take over the direction of studies in Halki, as soon as the school is reopened.

Many Metropolitans attended the ceremony, as well as Greek delegates and worshippers.
