Greek Economic Crisis Hits Hellenic Foundation For Culture

According to the chairman of the Hellenic Foundation For Culture, Giorgos Mpampiniotis, the members of the board of directors at the Hellenic Foundation For Culture will resign unless the economic problem in the foundation is resolved.
“The annual budget needed for the functioning of the Hellenic Foundation For Culture is 2,5 million Euros. 1,4 million Euros have been disbursed by now, and that is not enough for the functioning of the foundation”, Mpampiniotis explained.
The insufficient funding due to the ongoing financial crisis in Greece has also had an impact on most of the foundations existing in Greece.
Members of the board of directors of the Hellenic Foundation For Culture include eminent academics and professors that remain unpaid.
“We remain at the Foundation in order to promote Greek culture, and not only to be paid. Greek culture has been undermined because none of the governments sufficiently promoted the significance of Greek culture”, Mpampiniotis concluded.
