Greek Women’s National Water Polo Team Wins Silver Medal In Euro Final

The Greek women’s national water polo team has lost 13-10 to Italy in the final of the 2012 European Championship held in Eidhoven, in the Netherlands, on Saturday.

The Greek team did not play as it usually has and Italy took advantage of that, in order to setlle the score to their favor. The Greek attack and defense were stricken, while Greek keeper Elena Kouvdou was replaced in the third period of the game.

Giorgos Morfesis’ players started to retaliate when the score had formed at 10-4 but there was not enough time to make up for the lost ground.

The women’s national water polo team ranked 2nd and won the silver meda at the European Championship, like it had in 2010 in Croatia.

The Greek World Champions are now to begin training for the Olympic qualification eater polo tournament to be held in April 15-22 in Trieste, Italy.
