According to Greeceās foreign ministry, the German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle will visit Athens on Sunday for talks with senior officials.
A ministry statement Friday said Westerwelle will meet Foreign Minister Stavros Dimas. Westerwelle is also expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Lucas Papademos.
According to Washington Post, the visit comes just as Greece rushes to complete negotiations with banks and other private holders of its government bonds on a ā¬100 billion ($127 billion) debt writedown, ahead of a visit by international debt monitors on Monday.
The complex negotiations are a key part of Greeceās second international bailout, worth an additional ā¬130 billion, to which Germany will be a key contributor.
