PAOK Secures Top Spot in Europa League Group A

PAOK managed to win its Europa League group thanks to a 1-1 home draw against 10-man Rubin Kazan on December 15. The result was also enough for Rubin Kazan to reach the last 32 by finishing second.
The result meant that against all odds, the Greek team finished top of a pool that also included the mighty English club Tottenham, which is now out of the competition.
PAOK, along with Olympiakos, will be among the seeded teams in the draw for the last 32 of the competition to take place on December 16 in Switzerland.
Rubin goalkeeper Sergei Ryzhikov was sent off in the 12th minute for what was deemed a professional foul on Georgios Georgiadis and Vieirinha tucked away the spot-kick
PAOK took the lead at the Toumba stadium in the 16th minute through an Adelino Vieirinha penalty, which came along with the red card shown to goalkeeper Sergei Ryzhikov.
Rubin equalized three minutes into the second half courtesy of Haedo Valdez.
