Festival of Science and Technology FEST11 Begins

In collaboration with the National Hellenic Research Foundation, the British Council is presenting the science and technology festival FEST11 at Leonidas Zervas Lecture Hall, 48 Vas. Konstantinou Avenue, 116 35 Athens.
The FEST11 will be open to public from December 15 to 18, with morning activities commencing at 10:30 a.m. and the evening lectures at 7 p.m.
FEST11 is a celebration of science and technology at which both children and adults can discover the beauty, the imagination and the secrets of scientific thought.
The festival will give children the opportunity to become familiar with scientific concepts and will help them understand their applications in our everyday life, while at the same time helping adults to find out about the challenges faced by scientists and researchers.
As part of the FEST11 programme of lectures, distinguished Greek and international scientists and researchers will present the latest technologies and the most recent scientific and technological discoveries, while science communication experts will highlight the tools that can be used to bring science to the general public.
The morning activities are mainly aimed at school students, who can take part through organised groups. The programme includes a series of laboratory experiments and other educational activities, as well as the opportunity to visit the exhibition People & Gears, Codes & Lights – Aspects of the History of Computers in Greece. The evening presentations cover a wide range of scientific lectures and are aimed at young scientists, students, teachers and the general public.
The FEST11 programme will end with the final round of our School Lab competition, which we are running for the first time in Greece.
Admission is free.
