Elections And New Measures Cause Government Turbulence

Greek government’s tenure is determined by the work to be done, said spokesman for Greek PM Lucas Papademos, in an attempt to deal with the ministerial paralysis due to an unofficial pre-election period.
Infrastructure Minister Makis Voridis, a LAOS MP, threatened to resign if his view in the deregulation of taxi licenses is not adopted.
Former PM and still president of PASOK renounced the solution of elections in order to avoid risking national unity, and discusses in private the issue of succession of PASOK leadership.
ND insists on the “agreement” on election in February (or early March) and refuses to agree on new measures in this interim government.
The situation is very confusing, while the possibility of reaching a new equilibrium between government partners is considered minor at the time.
Information indicates that Lucas Papademos would seek to intervene were confirmed in Wednesday. Spokesman Pantelis Kapsis said that government’s work determines its tenure, clarifying that this work consists of PSI program, loan agreement and all necessary measure, but did not rule out the possibility of a cabinet shuffle.
