Property tax was rightly adopted, but mistakes were made, said Greek PM Lucas Papademos in the Parliament.
In a response to communist party leader Aleka Papariga, he said that the property tax contributes to the fiscal consolidation effort of the country, however he admitted that mistakes have been made in both calculations of the tax and non-exclusion of vulnerable groups.
Lucas Papademos said that a circular of the Finance Ministry will notify the exceptions of groups such as disable, large families, long-term unemployed, etc.
He also noted that there would be more but smaller tax instalments in 2012 in order to ease the monthly household budget.
However, he clarified that the government will not repeal this measure.
