Tragic End for Theatrical Producer Vangelis Livadas

Vangelis Livadas, one of the most renowned theatrical producers in Greece, found tragic death on Sunday at the age of 90 after a fire broke out in his apartment in the suburban area of Glyfada, Athens.
According to the fire service, the fire started from a defected fan heater placed next to Livadas’ bed and spread to the blankets. The unfortunate man suffered from moving disabilities and was unable to move away.
His partner, actress Smaroula Giouli, was hospitalized with breathing problems.
Livadas is most known for his theatrical productions in the 1970s, and especially after sucessfully staging Aristophane’s “Lyssistrata” at the Herod Atticus Theater. Moreover, his is renowned for bringing major Broadway musicals to Greece.
