Consul General of Turkey Talks About Greece's Economic Situation

Consul General of Turkey in Thessaloniki Mr. Tuğrul Biltekin talked about Greece’s economic crisis during the recent one-day-conference titled ‘Greece-Turkey: cooperation challenge’ that was held in Thessaloniki. In particular, Biltekin said that Turkey is currently the only country that can understand ongoing poor economic circumstances in Greece.
Turkish Consul General also referred to the economic crisis that Turkey faced in 2001. Then the unemployment rate became very high and an appeal was made to the Turkish Government for resigning. The representatives of then Turkish parties stated that Turkey’s exit from economic crisis would have happened if an extensive program of unification had been implemented.
Turkish Consul General emphasized that after the economic crisis experience of Turkey, the country of Turkey can understand the economic problems of Greece and can contribute to further development of the Greek economy.
“The time has come for Northern Greece to grasp all the chances offered by Turkey in order economic crisis to cause fewer effects on Greek people”, Consul General underlined.”Consulate General of Turkey and the Office for Commercial Affairs are ready to provide support to Greece”, Biltekin concluded.
