Bank Manager in Thessaloniki Embezzles 2.4 Million Euros

The manager of the Piraues Bank branch in Thessaloniki has been charged with embezzling 2.4 million euros from her clients’ accounts within the past 3 years.
The 46-year-old woman removed the money from the accounts of eight clients and transferred it into her own personal accounts. She also falsified client signatures of bank cheques and drafts and managed to pass an internal inquiry by other bank staff, a police statement said.
The investigation began after a client complained over missing money and a prosecutor issued a warrant arrest for the manager but she was not immediately taken into custody, a police source said.
