Juncker Says Greece to Deliver Written Commitment by Nov. 29

Luxembourg’s Jean-Claude Juncker, who leads the group of euro-area finance ministers, said Greece’s political parties will submit their written commitment to austerity measures by Nov. 29.
“It was not foreseen that Mr. Papademos would have a letter in his pocket, but we’ll have a written commitment by the Greek government before the next eurogroup,” Juncker told reporters today in Luxembourg after meeting with Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos. The so-called eurogroup is scheduled to meet next on Nov. 29.
“It’s up to the Greek government and political parties to check if ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to a cross-party agreement,” Juncker said. “Would there be no cross-party agreement, the next disbursement would not take place.”
