Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam to Perform at Megaron Concert Hall

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, based in Amsterdam, will be visiting Greece as a part of its 2011 tour for two performances at Megaron Concert Hall in Athens on November 22 and 23.
The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra has been voted the best symphonic orchestra in the world by UK’s Gramophone music magazine in 2008.
33-year-old internationally renowned conductor Andris Nelsons will be leading the Orchestra, while hailed as one of the best soloist pianists in the world Jean-Yves Thibaudet will also perform for the Greek audience.
The concerts will be hosted at Christos Labrakis Concert Hall of Megaron and are part of the popular symphonic music series “Major Orchestras-Major Conductors”.
The Amsterdam Royal Orchestra was founded in 1888 and always been an orchestra of vigor and eternal youth by insisting in following its tradition of constantly modernizing its sound, becoming acquainted with new music waves and styles, and trusting young conductors with new and pioneering ideas on the audience’s relation to music.
The programme of the two concerts will include works of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Camille Saint-Saens and Igor Stravinsky.
