Cypriot Michalis Leontiou Psaras even though he is only 16 years of age, studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at the Department of Visual and Applied Arts.
Many people call him ‘prodigy’ or ‘newborn Picasso’, because of his great talent at painting. When he was only 7-years-old, he attended painting courses at a private art studio.
Michalis told APE-MPE: My parents help me a lot. When I was 15, my teachers and parents encouraged me to take part in the exams of the Department of Visual and Applied Arts. People over 18 are only allowed to take part in these exams.”
Moreover, he continues, stating: “The exams result were made known in October, 2011. I have passed. 300 candidates have taken part but only 128 were accepted. I was the one among them.
Michalis also referred to his favourite painters, that include among others Picasso and Da Vinci, stating that he will do his best to succeed.
The principal of Michalis’ school, Theoxaris Masouras underlined: “Being a principal of schools for so many years, I have never seen a 15-year-old boy to pass the university exams. I’m very proud of him and I strongly believe that he is going to make great success”.
