Al Jazeera Live from Chalkida on Greek Debt Crisis

Al Jazeera, the biggest broadcasting news station of the Arab world and its reporter Andrew Simmons have decided to visit the city of Chalkida to record opinions and reactions of simple citizens on the Greek financial crisis and the unpopular austerity measures taken by the government to save the country from default.
The show was broadcasted live yesterday afternoon by Al Jazeera through its satellite network system. The Arabian news station interviewed local workers, young scientists, and pensioners, who shared their personal thought on the crisis affecting the country.
With unemployment rates in Greece reaching lately almost 17%, most young members of the Greek society are contemplating leaving Greece in search of a brighter future, while European leaders are holding talks about the country’s bailout fund and recapitalizing its banks.
In order for the Greek government to receive the new $11 billion installment, the Greek people have to struggle with all austerity measures.
The city of Chalkida, “a city that used to thrive off the Greek industrial heartland” is exposed under the light of the crisis.
