On Wednesday October 19th, Rihanna released her new video for the latest single, “We Found Love” directed by Greek-American Melina Matsoukas.

The video features British model/boxer Dudley O’Shaughnessy as Rihanna’s green-eyed love interest. The smoldering couple make their way through Belfast, Ireland, experiencing the ups and downs of love.

The couple’s carefree love descends into an endless cycle of pills, cigarettes, gambling, DIY tattoos, ribbon-barfing and muddy British music festivals.

Melina Matsoukas has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the American music industry. Among them are Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue, Leona Lewis, Whitney Huston, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dog, Jay Z and Katie Perry.

Greek-American Melina – who also has Jewish, Jamaican, and Cuban heritage – studied at the American Film Institute and at the University of New York. “I love music video clips. I like the quick changes and the creativity”, the self-made girl has said in a previous interview.

The first music video that made Melina super popular was the hit “Money Maker” for rapper Ludacris. It was then that the production company Black Dog Films appreciated her talent and offered her a contract.
