Greek Career Adviser Wins Scholarship in Victoria

Three Victorian educators have been awarded $5000 each as part of the Australian Government’s Scholarship scheme for career advisers. Among them was the Greek-origin George Georgostathis from Gladstone Park Secondary College.

The Victorian winners are three of 85 educators nationally who have been offered a scholarship to assist in postgraduate level studies to upgrade their qualifications.

George Georgostathis, 42, teaches Legal Studies and Politics at Gladstone Park in Melbourne, in addition to his duties as one of the college’s two career advisers.

“Students have to identify what they like, what they’re good at,” Georgostathis told Neos Kosmos. “It’s not necessarily about the students being passionate about a career path, most aren’t.

George will begin his Post Graduate work in Careers Education and Development, made possible by the scholarship, at RMIT in February.
