President Christofias Says Cyprus' Sovereign Right is Not Negotiable

President Demetris Christofias stressed that the Republic of Cyprus will continue the explorations for natural gas in its Exclusive Economic Zone, underlining that Cyprus will exercise its sovereign rights despite Turkey’s provocative reactions.
“Turkey, with provocations and threats, violates the international law, which it is called upon to respect” the PM said, adding at the same time that the UN, the EU and the international community have expressed their support towards his country.
During the celebration of the 51st anniversary of Cyprus independence yesterday, Mr. Christofias also referred to the Cyprus issue and repeated that: “We must never compromise with partition, which is the long-term aim of the expansionists of Turkey and the chauvinist circles of the Turkish Cypriot community”.
