Troika Expected Return to Greece on Wednesday

According to Reuters, a mission of inspectors from Greece’s international lenders will probably return to Athens on Wednesday, a source close to the inspection team, also known as the “troika”, said on Tuesday.

When asked if the troika mission chiefs were returning to Greece this week, a source close to the inspection team said: “Yes, the review should normally resume Wednesday”.

Horst Reichenbach, head of the EU Task Force in Greece, described a gloomy situation of the country. Both American and European sides of the Troika are furious, while the sentiment is extremely tense.
Information indicates that the Troika is not convinced by the adequacy and the implementation of the measures. It seeks to finalize the 2014 budget measures within the week. It also requires immediate announcement and adoption of measures.
