Happy Ending For 22-Year-Old Student Kidnapped In Kastoria

Α 22-year-old student was kidnapped on Wednesday evening in Kastoria.
The young woman received a phone call while hanging out with a friend at a bar informing her she was the winner of a new hi-tech mobile phone which she had to pick up herself from a courier agency in the area.
The girl left the bar to claim her new mobile phone and disappeared.
Soon afterwards, her father, former mayor of Ioannina, received a phone call from his daughter’s mobile phone, in which the kidnappers informed him they had his daughter and demanded 4 million euros to set her free.
The former mayor contacted the police immediately and they began investigating the case right away by sending high rank officers to Kastoria.
According to information, the police expanded their investigation to other neighboring towns of Kastoria and had informed the Albanian authorities as well to prevent the kidnappers from potentially transporting their victim to Albania.
Yesterday at about 4 am, however, the abduction came to an end after the young woman’s father aggreed to pay 43,000 Euros ransom to his daughter’s kidnappers in order to let her go.
The police managed to track down the kidnappers in Ioannina, where they arrested them and returned the ransom money.
The student was hospitalised to undergo medical tests and get psychological support but was not harmed in any way.
