AHEPA Meets with State Department

On September 15, Dr. John Grossomanides, supreme president, American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), a leading association for the nation’s three million American citizens of Greek heritage, and Philhellenes, met with Kathleen H. Allegrone, director, Office of Southern European Affairs, U.S. Department of State; and James P. Merz, deputy director, Office of Southern European Affairs, U.S. Department of State. Senior Greece Desk Officer Christopher Snipes also attended.

“I appreciated the opportunity to meet with the director and deputy director of the Office of Southern European Affairs both of whom are relatively new to their positions,”  Grossomanides said. “The meeting was productive as we were able to raise and discuss issues of importance to our members. We look forward to continuing the long-standing working relationship with the State Department which aims to further strengthen the U.S.-Greece strategic partnership.”
