2011 DESTE Prize Goes to Anastasia Douka

The 2011 DESTE Prize was granted to Anastasia Douka last night. The 32-years-old artist, obviously touched, received her award by Kasper König, director of the Ludwig Musem in Cologne, Germany, who explained all reasons why the international 5-member  jury selected Mrs. Douka.
The President of DESTE Foundation Centre for Contemporary Art, Mr. Dakis Ioannou, highlighted the importance of these awards, which are focusing on “the promotion of new artists and the creation of the right conditions for their international prominence”.
The DESTE Prize was established in 1999 and is awarded every two years to a Greek artist living in Greece or abroad in the Cycladic Art Museum. The winner is additionally presented with the amount of 10,000 Euros.
