Parliament Commemorated Hellenic Genocide In Asia Minor

A minute of silence was held by the Parliament in memory of the thousands of victims of the Hellenic Genocide in Minor Asia, during the plenary meeting that took place today at noon.
The 14th of September was established in 1998 as the day of national remembrance after the unanimous decision of the National Delegation that recognized and highlighted a major matter that branded the modern history.
The President of the Parliament, Filippos Petsalnikos, underlined during his greeting that “the establishment of this day is not only an expression of our anguish about a macabre crime against humanity”.”This day – as he finally emphasized – functions as a triggering event for thinking and consideration about every crime having been commited concerning national genocides”.
