EU: Troika Mission May Return To Athens In Mid-September

The joint mission of the European Commission, International Monetary Fund and European Central Bank may return to Athens in mid-September, European Commission spokespeople said Wednesday.
This troika is planning to resume its economic analysis mission for the disbursement of emergency loans to Greece, once the government meets the necessary terms, they said. However, no firm date has been set.
Talks between Greece and the troika of international lender inspectors were suspended last week following a dispute over the slow pace of cutbacks and structural overhauls by Athens as it continues to fall behind budget targets.
Greece΄s government vowed Tuesday to increase the pace of structural overhauls following fresh criticism from its European partners.
“It shows that some additional work did need to be done,” said commission spokesman Amadeu Altafaj-Tardio. “The European Commission is pleased that work under way has been speeded up.”
