No elections till 2013 says George Papandreou on PASOK's 37th anniversary

“All major reforms, including those on Higher Education, Health and fiscal policies will go on no matter what.” said the Greek prime minister at the  PASOK party conference in Faliro sending a clear message not only to his opponents but also to the old guard of Socialists within his own party who keep objecting that the reforms are basically a sell out of the party’s original ideals. He also attempted to put an end to all speculations about early elections, stating that there will be no elections till 2013.
Mr Papandreou, urged Greeks to support his reforms in order for Greece to survive the crisis and avoid bankruptcy.  In an attempt to draw a line as to where the country needs to head but at the same time justify his not-so-socialist agenda, Mr Papandreou denounced academics and doctors  opposing  his reforms reminding them that universities and hospitals  are by no means their”tsiflikia” and that it is time that the Greek state does what the constitution clearly states: treat citizens as equals. The goverment’s goal is to protect Greek citizens and not the guilds and corporations that brought the country to its limits, he stated.
