Cheap Land Given To The Unemployed And New Producers

Pieria, Imathia, Kilkis and Thessaloniki are the first four counties where the program of the Ministry of Rural Development will apply, related to the lease of public land to young producers, and the unemployed, even if they do not have the slightest relation to the agricultural profession.
It is over 10,000 acres in central Macedonia out of a total of three million acres of “pure” agricultural land, which will be gradually given to the public. The rent will be symbolic (5 euros per acre/year) and this is valid not only to farmers as it was originally decided, but also to the unemployed registered in OAED, who wish to engage in agricultural occupation, as people have started moving out from urban centers to rural areas.
The Ministry is ready to implement a special web application to be installed in the regions, through which each person interested in leasing land can choose the land of his choice, even if it is not in the county where he resides, but within the boundaries of the region.

The program will be launched immediately after the Thessaloniki International Fair and the web application will be officially presented for the first time at the stand of the Ministry of Rural Development.
