The State Council based on the Greek Constitution decided that there should be deregulation of all the professions. The constitution acknowledges the personal and economic freedom of all the citizens and thus the freedom to exercise any profession. The protection of economic interests can not be a reason for forbidding to new professionals exercising a profession.
The decision justifies the position of the Minister of Transports Mr. Ragousis who wanted deregulation of the taxi drivers but faced reactions by government officials and taxi drivers who held major protests in August, paralyzing the entire country.
