Papandreou has announced that he is giving in to society foundations, and dispensed with state control over them. In this way, the institutions can work for their own good and not as means of satisfying the interest of a minority.
The Prime Minister stated that AEI and TEI are examples of a tenuous situation which cannot be continued, a situation serving only students and professors who had a ”special relationship” with each other regarding academic and administrative benefits.
These days are crucial, because anyone can see which party is ready to move on and leave the past behind. PASOK has the power to do so and hopefully other political parties will follow, noted Papandreou in his speech to the Greek Parliament today.
