Tribute in Crete to Konstantinos Daskalakis Solver of the Nash Equilibrium

Konstantinos Daskalakis was born in 1981. He comes from Chania and he is the person who managed to solve the Nash equilibrium.
Now he works as an assistant professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at M.I.T.
According to flashnews.gr, the municipality of Platania, Crete and the Cultural Societies of the region organized an event in Voukolies, where Mr. Daskalakis originates from, to make him an honorary citizen.
They wanted to honour him for what he has achieved as a scientist, bringing honour to Greece abroad.
Mr. Daskalakis said to the local press that in order to change the situation in Greece, people have to change their attitude. In addition, he says there are more career opportunities abroad and the young people who follow a career abroad have the chance to benefit their own country as well. For the time being he said that he does not plan to return to Greece.
During the event, he presented his work and his scientific research, and answered questions from the audience.
The Nash equilibrium had been an unsolved enigma for 60 years. Mr. Daskalakis solved it when he was 28 years old. This theorem tries to analyse the strategic interaction of various individual choices. The film “A Beautiful Mind” is based on the life of Nash.
