Consumer Guide Regarding Quality of Tourist Services

Numerous complaints from consumers about the quality of tourism services provided to them during the holidays are received daily by the Consumer Protection Center (KE.P.KA.). Regarding expected intense tourist traffic close to August 15, here is a guide that consumers should be aware when traveling:
– Always check the cleanliness of the area where you will spend the night or have lunch/dinner.
– Always ask for the price list (lodging, restaurants, cafes, entertainment areas) before ordering. The price list should, in addition to prices, indicate certain qualitative characteristics of products such as fresh, frozen, imported or indigenous, etc.
– Always ask for the receipt and check the charges according to the price list before payment.
– Do not pay a cover charge, which was repealed years ago, nor for additional food or drink offered, without having directly ordered it.
– In case a shopkeeper is not willing to meet reasonable and legitimate demands or if the prices are too high, leave the place and be served by another company.
– In the event that the place of accommodation does not respect the terms and conditions as agreed before booking, denounce the fact to the nearest police authority and refuse to pay the amount agreed upon in advance.
– Any circumvention of your personal rights should be denounced to the General Secretariat for Consumers on 1520 and to other consumer organizations.
