An unusual move was made by volunteers, regarding the dumping area close to the Haliacmon River.
The volunteers have been guarding the dumping ground because to prevent vehicles from unloading more garbage.
According to the EU, this area should no longer be accepting garbage because it has become a safety hazard. There is a great possibility of fire breaking.
The river pollution is another issue in need reexamination.
This was an initiative of the municipality of Veria in cooperation with Volunteer Firemen Corps (ESEPA) . The volunteers lifted an iron fence as to prevent further unloading.
