There has been a dramatic rise of the number of very young foreign prostitutes in the centre of Athens and in 10 other locations in the region of Attiki. Hundreds of drug users and prostitutes go to the area of Omonia after sunset, a fact that really concerns the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity.
The minister spoke in front of the Intergroup Committee on Examining the Migration Issue of the Parliament and asked the cooperation of the Municipality of Athens, of the Region and of the other relevant ministries to help find solutions, because as he said, “Moving the immigrants from the area and taking them to another, will not solve the problem.”
The Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity also recorded a rise of cases of tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases like AIDS, and Hepatitis C and B.
