June Reveals Athenian Hotel Booking Cancellations

Unlike the islands, 20,000 bookings in 21 hotels have been cancelled in Athens, in June. However, Greece shows two completely different pictures of tourist traffic this year. On the islands, an impressive increase in arrivals from abroad has been recorded for June.
For example, compared to last June, the tourist traffic at the airport of Rhodes has increased by 27% , 25% on the island of Kos, 18% in Heraklion, 21% in Thessaloniki, 16% on Mykonos, 9, 8% on Corfu, 7% in Chania and 5.3% on Zakynthos.
Hotels in Athens, because of recent events, have seen cancellations of individual tourists, organised tour groups, conferences and corporate events. The hoteliers in the capital have asked the government to take relief measures such as the non-payment of CAB Property Tax in 2012, a 20% discount of contributions for 12 months, etc.
