Significant Increase in Rhodes & Dodecanese Tourist Arrivals

According to travel agencies, tourism is blooming in the Dodecanese islands and especially in Rhodes.
Data shows that arrivals have increased in comparison to 2010. In June 2010, the number of charter flights was 237,156, while the number was at 301,641 in June 2011.
The majority of the tourists come from Germany and UK. However a significant number arrived from Italy, Switzerland, Russia and Israel.
The biggest increase in arrivals to Rhodes were from Israel, up 73 percent, followed by Russia, up 61 percent, Poland, up 58 percent, and Finland, up 41 percent.
The hospitality of the locals, the beauty of the Old Town reminding a fairytale epoch, the picturesque view of the island and the night life going on until the daylight, contributed to the increase in arrivals of the tourists who seem to not be influenced by the negative reportage taking place all over the world.
Occupancy rates in Rhodes hotels were at high levels this month and the same is anticipated for the coming months.
