Tony Abbott Accepts Honorary Invitation to Kythirion Ball, NSW

The Head of the Federal Opposition, Tony Abbott, has accepted the invitation to be the honorary person at the Kythirion ball, in New South Wales. The 89th annual dance of Kythira, will be held on Saturday, June 18 at Le  Monatage Bayside Events Centre, located at 38 Frazer Street, Leichhard.

Politicians from both parties of the government have recognized the enormous contribution by Greeks and  Kythera to Australia over the last 200 years. Former Australian Prime Minister John Howard, speaking in Kythira some years ago, stated the Greeks are a shining example of national integration in Australia.

John Howard supported that the Greeks are regarded to be “mentors” on how a national community can remain faithful to its roots, but also be part of the Australian reality. Tony Abbot agreed with the above mentioned and added that, Australians of Kythiriani descent have made a great contribution to our nation, while the Kytherian Association of Australia helps to keep this contribution alive.
