Legalised Abolition of Greek Consulates Abroad

The Council of State have given the green light for the abolition of seven General Consulates of Greece abroad and two Consulates, and the abolition of the permanent delegation of Greece in Brussels.
The Supreme Court -by exception- approved the abolition of two Consulates,  due to Greece’s current financial situation, with the view to selling buildings of Greece’s  Public Property abroad. In particular, with three Presidential Decree drafts abolished; the  General Consulates of Brussels, London, Paris, Hanover, Cologne, Leipzig, and Naples. Nice’s and Durban’s Consulates are abolished too along with three Consular offices housed in three Greek Consulates.
More specifically, the new Consular offices will be: a) in the Embassy of Brussels with jurisdiction over the territory of Belgium, b) in the Embassy of London with jurisdiction over the territory of the UK, c) in the Embassy of Paris with jurisdiction over the territory of France with exception to the regions that belong to the General Consulate of Marseille.
According to the Presidential Decrees, some of the staff working in the abolished General Consulates will be transferred. Moreover, the regions of jurisdiction of the Consulars of Greece in Brazil, Germany, Italy, South Africa, and Serbia are being redistributed.
