In 1974, a Cypriot family finds shelter in an abandoned former Ottoman palace. When a young Turkish-Cypriot recruit comes face to face with the refugee family, he is forced to face the harsh reality of the war.
The award-winning homogeneous director, Antonis Maras from Adelaide, brings onto the big screen a story inspired by true events, with an international cast of actors from Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, England and Germany.
Shot, just one breath away from the Green Line of UNO, the director based his story on the humanistic side of the war and not on the political events, which have blackened the landscape of Nicosia.
The movie was shot on location in Nicosia, as the director wanted this production to be completely genuine both in costume and scenes. An international team from around the globe (Australia, Greece, Cyprus, Germany, Marocco, England, and South Africa) was a great help in the production of the movie.
The movie will be shown in the Dendy Short Film Competition, during the Sydney Film Festival. It is important to note that the movie has won the ”People’s Choice” award at the Adelaide Film Festival and if it makes a good impression at the International Festival of Melbourne and Sydney, it may become a nominee for an Oscar.
