Greek Scientist Develops Innovative Intervention Model for Austistic Children

Greek Dr. Haris Karnezi developed an innovative intervention model for high functioning children with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. She will be presenting the results of her research called “Cognitive Behaviour Drama-CBD” at the conference of the annual scientific meeting “International Meeting for Autism Research 2011-IMFAR”, taking place in San Diego, California from the 12th to 14th of May. Dr. Karnezis supports the goal of the programme to offer children on the autism spectrum an opportunity to develop social and communication skills that would facilitate their everyday social interactions, help them achieve their objectives, and enable them to create and maintain meaningful relationships that would improve their overall well being and quality of life. Specific objectives are also set to meet the individual needs of each participant; these often include ritualistic mannerisms and phobic avoidances.

Apart from her attendance in the IMFAR, Dr. Karnezis will cooperate with Asperger Centre for Education and Training in New York.

The Greek scientist seems to be satisfied with the fact that Ireland, Australia and the U.S.A. apply a method that she has already applied in Greece.
