In his message, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew mentions the disaster in Japan, but also the wars and terrorist attacks, which in conjunction with the economic crisis, are a plague to our planet.
His All Holiness also refers to the “arrogant human mind”, constantly endeavouring to tame nature’s boundless forces, while stressing that these elements are related to the “spiritual and ethical deviation of humanity”. The message is concluded, noting that faith in Risen Christ will: “calm the natural and moral waves that trouble the world today”.
