Independent expatriate Australia’s Senator, Nick Xenophon, an anti-gambling campaigner and politician, is struggling against supermarkets’ monopoly. Mr. Xehophon believes that the government should take steps to put an end to monopoly, which can lead to obliteration of small companies and rises prices.
Mr. Xenophon’s statements followed a six hour “investigation” of Coles and Woolworths executives from members of Senate Finance Committee for the “milk war” brought out between them, leading to bankruptcy of milk producers and milk companies.
These two brands aim to use the same method for other kinds of food in favor of consumers. Nevertheless, the Senator supports that this is going to shut small supermarkets and and rise costs.
