On Sunday, the 27th of March, a memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Venizelos family graves in Chania, dedicated to Eleftherios and Sofokles Venizelos. The ceremony is organized by the Municipality of Chania and the National Institute “Eleftherios K. Venizelos”, while Deputy Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Nikos Sifounakis, will give a speech. Before the memorial service, Metropolitan of Kydonia and Apokoronos, Damaskinos, will officiate a service held at Prophet Elia’s Church. At 19:30 the same day, prize winners of the 9th Pan-Hellenic Student Essay Competition for Eleftherios Venizelos will be awarded at the “Stavros S. Niarchos” Hall. The competition is held every year by the National Institute of Research “Eleftherios K. Venizelos”, under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs. Sponsors of the student awards and the event are partners and sponsors of the Institute Emmanouil and Damaskini Mihailakis.
