“The Cooking Odyssey” Airs again on American TV

“The Cooking Odyssey” will be on American public television again, for the second time. It is a gastronomy trip to the Mediterranean and more specifically to the Greek kitchen.  It also promotes local taste habits and the unique beauties of Greece. Producer George Stamos presented a sample of this effort during an event held at the Greek Press and Communication Office in New York. “Mediterranean food has been way of living for thousands of years, in different areas of the Mediterranean”, underlined Mr. Stamos, noting that “recently, the so-called Mediterranean diet has been on the centre of healthy food in the U.S.A. and of researchers’ interest internationally”. He also mentioned that “The Cooking Odyssey” started two years ago, to offer the American audience the cultural heritage, the magic locations and the recipes of the Greek kitchen, at a moment when gastronomy was about to become one of the most basic tourism attractions in Greece. Hosts of the show Giannis Mameletzis (photo) and Eva Tsoureka are looking for cooking routes in Greece, talking with farmers, restaurant- owners and chefs and promoting local recipes from Greek places they visit. They also invite people in their studio-kitchen in New York, decorated by Efi Karampela. Finally, in every 30-minute episode of the show they emphasize the use of healthy ingredients, such as virgin oil, vegetables, herbs, cereals, sea-food, fatless meat and wine.
