Greeks Remaining in Libya are Safe & Calm

Metropolitan Theofylaktos of Tripoli (photo), Libya, assures that all Greeks who live in the country are safe. He tries to be in every day contact with the Greeks in Libya’s capital, about 20 families and individuals, who chose to remain in the country even after the rescue operation held by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 28th of October. The Metropolitan and Demetris Anastasiou, the President of the Greek Community, visits the Greek church of St. George daily, to make sure that everything is under control. “We try to be calm, even during the bombardments”, says Mr. Anastasiou, a third generation Greek. He added that he hasn’t regretted his decision not to leave Libya.
