Greek Anti-Terror Police Seize Weapons

Authorities say anti-terrorist police conducting a search in central Greece and in the country’s capital have seized weapons caches and detained seven people.
Police said an operation in the central town of Volos and in Athens early Monday led to anti-terror police finding an assortment of weapons and apparent disguises, including two automatic assault rifles, six handguns, a revolver, police uniforms, wigs and radios. It said five men and two women had been detained for questioning.
The operation was continuing, police said.
Attacks by far-left militants and armed anarchist groups have increased in Greece in the past two years, despite a crackdown on terror groups and the arrest of more than a dozen suspects.
In other news, a bomb exploded early Monday in the office of the ruling PASOK party in Thessaloniki’s district of Sykies. The fire that followed caused damage but no injuries.
