A search-and-rescue mission for 16 Bangladesh nationals is underway. The mission is in the south of the Souda port in Crete. Thirty others are already rescued, while three were found drowned.
According to sources, the 49 were among a group of 1,200 Bangladesh nationals being transported out of Libya in the ship Ionian King, in order to be transferred back to Bangladesh.
Of those, the 49 were in Libya illegally and chose to dive into the sea than be repatriated.
